Construction of a new residential area has started in Cruquius, North Holland: Landgoed Wickevoort. In this green environment, within cycling distance of Haarlem, 800 owner-occupied and rental homes such as bungalows, waterfront villas and mansions are being built. A special feature of this project is that the new residents can design their own living environment. In consultation with the other residents of the estate, it can be determined which facilities will be added to the riding school, petting zoo and local shop. The project started in 2021 and will be completed by mid-2024.
An important part of a construction project is the foundation. The construction of this is in good hands with Gebr. van ’t Hek. With a solid background of 78 years of expertise in the field of foundation work, they work nationally for all major contractors. For these projects, they have access to 3 Sennebogen crawler cranes: the Sennebogen 653 (50 tons), 673 (70 tons) and the 6100 (100 tons). Gebr. van ’t Hek has been working with Van den Heuvel Werkendam for some time and has specifically chosen Sennebogen cranes because of their performance and reliability.
For the project in Cruquius, the Sennebogen 673 crawler crane is being used to install sheet piling to create a construction pit. A parking garage will later be built on top of this, with an apartment complex above it. The planks are vibrated into the ground with a vibratory block of 5500 kg. The planks are 10 meters long and weigh 1100 kilos each.
The Sennebogen crane is operated by the permanent operator Robin Poel. Robin is particularly enthusiastic about the functioning of the machine, especially how the machine can be operated. He indicates that the Sennebogen 673 is a fantastic machine to work with. He is also enthusiastic about the spacious cabin, the low fuel consumption and the very low noise level. The colleagues working around the crane also agree about the latter.
The Sennebogen 673 is particularly ideal for this type of project because of its stability, the lifting capacity of up to 70 tons, its spacious working radius with a 36-meter boom that is fully stepless hydraulically extendable and retractable. It is a “clean machine” with minimal emissions thanks to its Stage V engine that meets the latest EU standards. A machine that moves easily and smoothly across the construction site thanks to its crawler drive. A crawler undercarriage that is hydraulically adjustable in width, so it can operate within minimal spaces and is ready for transport in no time. The crane meets the EN16228 foundation standard and is therefore ideally suited for the aforementioned work.
